Location

The Camp Ellis Reach Beach is near to the Biddeford Pool. It is in the York County of Maine, USA.

Historical significance

The Biddeford City is near to the beach. The first European to settle here was Richard Vine. He settled in the Biddeford Pool which is also known as the Winter Harbor.

The Kennebunk Town was settled in 1620. According to the Abenaki Indians, Kennebunk means 'the long cut bank'. It is near to the beach.

The Wood Island Lighthouse stands near to the Biddeford Pool. It was built in 1808. As it got ruined, another one was constructed here in the 1830s. It was renovated in 1859.

Tourist attractions

The Camp Ellis Reach Beach is an un-crowded beach. The blue waves hitting the shore are really beautiful. Are you good at swimming? If so come and swim in the blue waves here. Those who are interested can also go for boating. If you want to do something else, then enjoy golf in the nearby golf courses. The Dutch Elm Golf Course, Out Of the Rough Indoor Golf Club, Deep Brook Golf Course, Cape Arundel Golf Club, and the Biddeford Saco Country Club are some among them.

This is also a family destination wherein you can also take your family to the Funtown/Splashtown USA. The wooden roller coaster here is one of the best roller coasters in the world. The Palace Playland is also near to the beach. Enjoy well the thrilling rides here. The roller coaster here can accommodate both adults and children.

Are you a nature lover? If so come to the Scarborough Marsh. It is the largest marsh in the State. The marsh is enlivened by the sweet songs of the birds. Other than this here you can see the mink, otter, and the muskrat.

The Southworth Planetarium is really interesting not only to the kids but also to the grownups. It is informative as well as entertaining. The lazer shows and the astronomy shows here are really appreciable.

You can also visit the East Point Sanctuary which is near to the beach.

Best period to visit

It is nice to be here in summer so the tourists normally visit the beach in the month of August. In the month of November there will be plenty of rainfall.

Access

The Biddeford Municipal Airport and the National Highway 95 are near to the beach. The Seaside Avenue which is near to the Ferry Road 9 will take you to the beach directly.
