Location

The Dickenson Bay is located at the northwestern coastline of the Island of Antigua. The Island of Antigua is one of the two islands that form the country of Antigua and Barbuda.

Historical significance

Before the Europeans discovered the Island of Antigua, it was inhabited by three different sets of people. The ones who were the most documented were the Arawakans and the Caribs. In the year 1493, Christopher Columbus sighted these islands and gave the Island of Antigua its name. The islands became a part of the British Empire in the year 1632. In the year 1981 the Island of Antigua gained its independence.

Tourist attractions

Some of the tourist activities that can be done here are windsurfing and swimming. You may also engage in some kayaking. Fishing is another activity that you can do here as well. To the south of the Dickenson Bay is Runaway Beach, and to the north is the Blue Waters Beach.

The bay is the place where most of the windsurfing activity takes places on the Island of Antigua.

Best period to visit

The months between January and May are the best time to visit the beach. This is because the period is the driest.

To enter the island you will first have to catch a flight to the V C Bird International Airport. And from there catch a taxi to the beach.
