Location

The Easton Beach is the neighboring beach of the popular Atlantic Beach that lies at the eastern end of this beach. The beach is situated at the southwest corner of the Eastons South Pond. It is part of the coastline of the Newport County in the State of Rhode Island, USA.

Tourist attractions

The Easton Beach is a recreation and relaxation spot for all members of the family and has attractions designed for all age groups. The beach is also well provided with facilities that make it a popular destination for the residents of Newport and some who visit the beach during the summer months.

The beach has a huge parking facility that can accommodate large numbers of cars. This makes it easier for many to use the beach. The long beach has shallow water at the shore and is a good swimming spot. Most people during the summer may be seen using the beach for sunbathing. Visitors to the beach may make use of the facilities provided at the Rotunda Building that has an office, information center, a banquet hall that is offered on payment of hire charges, and many shops that sell and rent equipment for use at the beach. The building also houses restrooms, a picnic facility that is covered, a snack bar, beachside store, public use showers with cold and hot water, and souvenir shops. The use of the beach services is chargeable.

One may hire beach umbrellas to use at the sand or use them along with the chairs. As the beach has waves crashing against it, one may also hire surf boards to surf the waves. Swimming gear can also be rented at the beach. Boogie boarding is another popular activity and such boards are also rented out to those interested. The beach facility also has changing rooms. Children can be seen in large numbers at the paved skating facility provided for them at the beach. They may also use the playground provided for their use. The boardwalk here interests many visitors. Telephones for public use are also provided at the beach.

There are also facilities for beach games like volleyball and other spectator sports that attract large numbers. Other popular activities at the beach are skateboarding and wind surfing. Disabled people may use the sand wheelchairs provided at the buildings. Picnics can also be organized by groups and some corporate casual parties may also hire the banquet facility available here. Boat rides and the merry go round rides are part of the entertainment options for children. The beach has special entertainment features for children that include magic shows, puppet show, juggler displays, as also storytelling. The beach facilities may also be used for family functions and weddings. The beach also provides a music show for the entire family to enjoy. Most of these facilities are best enjoyed during the months of August and July.

The beach also has another attraction called the Cliff Walk located at the western end of the beach. This walk is a three and a half mile long beach walk facility that runs parallel to the shore and offers to those interested, great views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beach side cottages with their well maintained lawns. A walk along this track enlivens one’s spirit.

Best period to visit

The month of July is considered as the best suited month here for a visit to this beach.

Access

The Route 138 A also known as the Memorial Blvd., runs parallel to the beach. One may exit from the route at the entrance to the beach buildings near the parking facility.

The Newport State Airport is situated a few miles north from the beach and the Route 138 A connects the beach with the airport. The Route 138 A also connects to the Newport Harbor west from the beach.
