Location

The Edingsville Beach is near to the Edisto Beach State Park in the Edisto Island. It is in the Charleston County of South Carolina, USA.

Historical significance

There are several ghost stories about the beach. One is about Captain Fickling and Mary Clark. Soon after their wedding, Captain Fickling set sail to the West Indies. Mary lived in her beach house. One day a dreadful hurricane hit Edingsville. Next day she saw her husband's body floating in the waves. She lost her husband and parents in that hurricane. It is said that a young girl can be seen on the shore on moonlit nights.

Tourist attractions

The Edingsville Beach is a calm beach away from the noises of the city. The shiny water and beautiful shoreline are really attractive. It is not a crowded beach. Here you can enjoy swimming, fishing, and boating.

The Edisto Island Serpentarium is near to the beach. It contains almost all kinds of reptiles. It houses black racers, coach whips, rat snakes, and water snakes. Other than these it includes South Carolina's venomous species like the copperheads, rattlesnakes, and the cottonmouth moccasins. Here you can see a wide variety of turtles including the red-eared sliders, box turtles, diamondback terrapins and the soft-shelled turtles. The park is also a home to American alligators and lizards.

You can visit the Cypress Garden which is also near to the beach where you can see a butterfly house, an aquarium, and a beehive. If you are interested you can play golf in the nearby golf clubs. The Edisto Beach Golf Club is near to the beach.

Best period to visit

Tourists normally visit the beach in the month of November. In the month of July there will be plenty of rainfall.

Access

The Charleston Executive Airport is near to the beach and the State Highway 174 will take you to the beach directly.
