The Folly Field Beach is near to the Hilton Head Airport in the Hilton Head Island. It is in the Beaufort County of South Carolina, USA.

Historical significance

The English Captain William Hilton discovered the Hilton Head Island in 1663. He was exploring the Port Royal Sound. He called the island the ‘Hilton Head’. The word head denotes the headlands of the island.

Fort Pulaski National Monument lies near the beach. It was built in 1847 to protect the United States from invasions. It was named Fort Pulaski to honor Kazimierz Pulaski.

Tourist attractions

The Folly Field Beach is a popular beach. The sparkling water and the shoreline are really attractive. Here you can swim with the waves. If you are interested you can go for boating and fishing. Kids will like the beach as they can play building sand castles in the shore.

Besides this, there are numerous golf courses near the beach. The Country Club of Hilton Head, Old Carolina Golf Club, Executive Golf Club, Melrose Golf Course, and the Old South Golf Links are also near to the beach. If you are interested you can play golf at these clubs.

The Hilton Head Island is known for its white sandy beaches. The Shelter Cove Harbor in the island offers a variety of recreational activities like kayaking, sailing, fireworks, concerts, and cruise excursions. The Adventure Cove is also near to the beach. The Coastal Discovery Museum and the Sandbox offers unique entertainment activities. This island is a home to a variety of wildlife species like alligators, deer, and the Loggerhead Sea Turtles. Other than this, the island is a venue for several golf tournaments.

Best period to visit

Tourists normally visit the Folly Field Beach in the month of November. In the month of August there will be plenty of rainfall.

The Hilton Head Airport is near to the beach. The State highway 278 will lead you to the beach directly.
