Location

The Hackberry Beach is located south of the Lower Mud Lake that lies on the southern coastline of the Cameron Parish in the state of Louisiana, USA.

Tourist attractions

The water of the Gulf of Mexico washes ashore on this beach. Tourists who visit the beach here are those seeking some time to relax in peace and quiet. The beach lacks public facilities as it is not frequented by many people. But the beach is a good place to enjoy the summer days with one’s family. One can enjoy swimming off the beach during the summer months. With children at the beach, one can enjoy an afternoon playing with them. If interested in exploring the water, then one can ride on a boat, otherwise one may also try one’s luck fishing in the waters of the beach.

The beach is a great place along a hiking trail. One can find hikers resting at the beach during summer. As the beach is a little far from residential and commercial centers one may have to bring along some things that one might need at the beach. Behind the beach are lots of lakes where one may enjoy comparatively calmer waters. Hence one can get a chance to enjoy both fresh and salt water near the beach.

There are some other places which might interest the visitors. One may opt to visit the Bayou Labauve. Another place one might try is the Pirogue Trail. Hikers usually follow this trail as it lets one see the natural beauty of the area.

Best period to visit

One should visit the beach during the month of April to enjoy the most.

Access

The US Highway 10 touches Lake Charles. From this highway one can exit at the E Ward Line Road also known as Route 397. This leads one south to the route number 27 called the Creole Nature Trail. After crossing Creole, turn east on the Oak Grove Highway towards the Lower Mud Lake. The beach lies just south of this lake.

The Chennault International Airport lies beside the E Ward Line Road and the Creole Nature Trail. Just north of this is the Mallard Junction, a railway station. There is also a smaller airport called the Lake Charles Regional Airport. This lies near the Gauthier Road.

Alternately one may use the Southeast Texas Regional Airport at Nederland or the Orange County Airport situated near West Orange.
