Location

Kovalam or Covelong is one of the most beautiful and charming beaches of India. This beach village is situated at a distance of 40 km south of Chennai City along the east coast.

Historical significance

It was a port built by the Carnatic Nawab, Saadat Ali, but in the 1980s it emerged as a major tourist destination.

Tourist attractions

This fishing village has beautiful palm trees and a sandy beach. The environment, serenity, and calmness make this one of the best beaches along the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu.

Late November to March.

Speciality

Sea surfing and swimming facilities are available here. The beach is adorned with an ancient fort, a mosque, and a famous Catholic Church.

The nearest airport is in Chennai at a distance of 40 km. All the important cities of India and the world are connected to Chennai.
