Location

Oceanside Beach is positioned in the middle of the southern Californian Coastline of the USA.

Tourist attractions

The beach has a white sandy coast extending for 3 and a half miles. The beach is an ideal place for children to build sandcastles, and for adults to sunbathe, surf and swim. One can stroll along the beach and enjoy the sight of waves breaking on the sand. It also allows one to body surf and fish. If one is handicapped, then one can borrow sand wheelchairs available at the lifeguard towers. Since the weather here is mild it allows people to participate in beach recreation activities.

The pier at the beach is the place where people gather together to have a nice time. It is one of the longest piers in the southern west extending for more than 1,000 feet. Various fun filled competitions are organized from the pier which includes surfing, body surfing, and fishing. It also has a restaurant and snack bar along with shops offering fishing gear.

The other major attraction is the harbor at the beach. Tourists have the option of taking boat tours to the ocean to see the ocean wildlife. One can watch whales, participate in sport fishing, or simply enjoy a boat ride. The Harbor Village offers tourists a view from the top of the Harbor Lighthouse, food at its restaurants, and shopping facilities. One can launch rides on kayaks from the harbor or sail out to the ocean. Jet skis are also available on rent. There are some picnic tables and facilities for parking nearby. This enables many who drive on the nearby highway to opt for a break here.

The Oceanside Boulevard Beach has many private homes near the water. But it is not safe for surfing. Another tourist attraction, The Mission San Luis Rey was a Christian missionary but has been used for other purposes in the past like a bullfight arena, a military outpost and it now a museum. The other place to visit is the Heritage Park which has buildings restored to their original use and serves as a place for tourists to find out the history of Oceanside Village. There is also a huge military base nearby known as the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. One may come across some military personnel at the beach with their families. They can be seen relaxing after hard training. The Guajome Regional Park offers possibilities like biking, horseback riding, fishing along with campsite facilities. There is a freshwater lake here which is good for fishing and surrounded by native flora and fauna.

The beach side has many other appeals like golf courses, tennis courts, and a roadway that people use for rollerblading along with jogging and walking. Bicyclists also use the road.

Best period to visit

The beach has a Mediterranean type climate, and hence it can be visited all the year round. But the beach is best visited during summer. During winter the strong wind stirs up the ocean waves for wild surfing.

Access

The Oceanside Municipal Airport has paved runways half a mile long allowing tourists transit facilities. It is also used by the emergency and paramedical services. The place can also be reached by Highway 5.
