Location

The VGP Golden Beach Resort has the advantage of being near city limits of a major city like Chennai, India.  It is located at Injambakkam on the State’s tourism corridor on the East Coast Road. It is just about half an hour’s drive from the city’s outskirts.

Tourist attractions

The Golden Beach is a source of relaxation after a hard week’s work, which could be easily reached by anybody living in Chennai City. There is no shortage of entertainment, fun, and frolic at the Amusement Park of the VGP Golden Beach Universal Kingdom. These facilities are apart from the wide sandy beach which is the main attraction here.

The facility is not short of greenery either, which is to be seen in abundance here. Numerous additions have been made to cater to entertainment like the children's merry go round, jumping frog, aero-ship, giant wheel, super trooper, dragon’s belly, break-dance, and super jet to enthrall the younger visitors, along with the Water Chute, Dashing Car, and the Spectacular Go Kart. Other special additions here are the Aquarium and the Jurassic Park. With plenty to choose from, the tourists along with their families are sure to keep themselves occupied all the time. There are public conveniences at strategic locations on the beach.

A cultural touch to the entertainment options here is also provided by the folk and contemporary dances and the cultural shows. A cultural wall built near the entrance depicts the various folk traditions of India.

The Ecstasy Land of the Golden Beach offers banquet and conferencing facilities, a bar, stage with open-air seating, discotheques, and a private beach, which is the most important feature it has for tourists. Ecstasy Land is particularly taken advantage of by corporate entities in and around the city. Board meetings are conducted at the ‘Golden Chakra’ or ‘Pandian’ halls, and for entertainment, swimming pools and beach games are always available. Several corporate product launches have also taken place at the Golden Beach. Facilities for conferences are also provided to the corporate. There are open landscapes to host parties, the spacious Chola Mandapam with hundreds of feet of stage space, air conditioned halls with audio and video presentation aids, a night club, and an open air dance floor. The business facilities here provide one with telecommunication equipments, office automation equipment, and high speed Internet access.

The entrance fee is a nominal Rs.50 per child, while school children are given a special discount. Adults have to pay Rs. 100 as entrance fee. What separates Golden Beach from many other beach resorts that line this route are its offerings that attracts the common man and the corporate alike.

For those who occupy the resort rooms, round the clock service is available. The restaurants offer Chennai and Andhra meals, in addition to Tandoori items.

Best period to visit

One can visit here any time of the year, but people find it especially attractive during the summer months between May and August.

Access

Golden Beach is located on the East Coast Road with easy access to the city’s transport system. It is a little over 20 kilometers from the Airport. There are direct and indirect buses connecting it with major shopping centers. It is located on the highway connecting the Chennai City with the southern centers of the state, hence there are always intercity buses plying on the East Coast Road. The state corporation buses regularly stop at the Golden Beach.
