Location

The beach is located west of Eastville on the shore of Chesapeake Bay, and is a part of the Northampton County shoreline in the state of Virginia, USA. It is located immediately south of the Smith Beach. The beach is situated a few miles west of the Highway 13.

Tourist attractions

The beach is a good place to relax on weekends. But as the beach is considered remote, one may not find the crowds that one associates with the other popular beaches. The beach is also not very popular with tourists either. Hence one is not likely to find many tourists. But at the beach one can find people from Eastville, Kendall Grove, James Crossroads, Stumptown, and also from Little Salisbury.

The water of the Chesapeake Bay washes ashore the beach making it an ideal place for a swim. There are many bays at both north and south of the beach. This is an attractive place for boaters who would enjoy a ride along the shore line as well as along the many bays. The presence of bays also makes it a good place to fish. After sinking a line one can spend hours waiting for a catch while one enjoys the sound of waves breaking ashore. The beach is also a place where one can come across hikers because the Haulover Trail runs nearby. One can also visit the Bay Creek Golf Club to enjoy a round of golf.

The Gulf is also an interesting place to visit while touring the beach. Another interesting water body here is the Old Castle Creek, while White Cliffs allows one a nice view of a larger area. Another interesting place here is Savage Neck. One may also decide to visit the Smith Dam, situated at a little distance from the beach. The neighboring beaches one can tour are the Tankards Beach, the Hungars Beach, and the Smith Beach.

Best period to visit

One can visit the beach in the month of April to enjoy it the most.

Access

From the Highway 13 one has to exit onto the Savage Neck Dr. to travel west towards the beach. Near the shoreline the road bifurcates with one branch called the Smith Beach Rd. This road travels north towards the Smith Beach and the Wilkins Beach is located at the point where the road turns north.

The nearest airport is near Melfa called the Accomack County Airport, situated west of Highway 13. This highway also leads north to the Crisfield Municipal Airport and south to the Norfolk International Airport.
